Fatal accident on MV UHL FORTUNE

HAMBURG/ENNORE – United Heavy Lift GmbH & Co. KG, operators of the general cargo vessel MV ‘UHL Fortune’ (IMO 9813242), regret to report that a fatal accident occurred on board the vessel in the port of Ennore (INENR), India on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11 p.m. (local time).

 

During loading operations in the port of Ennore, a laden cargo crate fell and struck the 1st Officer and debris hit the 3rd Officer. Tragically, the 1st Officer succumbed to his injuries. The 3rd Officer is in good condition under the circumstances and is being treated for his injuries in hospital.

 

Our top priority is to provide for and support the well-being of the family of the 1st Officer and those of the 3rd Officer, and fellow shipmates during this difficult time.

 

The investigation into the root cause of this tragic incident is ongoing and at this stage we will refrain from making any additional comments.

 

We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the 1st Officer. May his soul rest in peace.

Out of respect for the deceased, his family, and all those involved and affected, we ask that you respectfully refrain from disseminating insensitive statements and posting photos of this fatal accident.
