HAMMONIA Reederei, together with US-based institutional investors, has acquired three moder 4,900 TEU wide beam ships, built in 2014. The vessels, M/V "HAMMONIA AMERICA", M/V "SAPPHIRE" and M/V "HAMMOINA VIRGINIA", have been taken over on the 15th of May 2014, on the 17th of July 2014 an don the 8th of October 2014, respectively.

The three sister vessels were designed in Germany by Neptun Ship Design and built by an experienced first class shipyard in China. They belong to the latest generation of so-called "eco-ships" with a high fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness. The efficient engine and optimized hull and propeller lead to about 25% fuel savings per carried TEU as compared to conventional Panamx ships. The low consumption and hte high number of reeder plugs provide these ships with a competitive edge in the charter market demanding a high premium over Panamx vessels.

The 2014 built vessels join two other similar eco-ships in HAMMONIA´s fleet, M/V "HAMMONIA ISTRIA" and M/V "HAMMONIA TOSCANA", which were deliverd in 2013. Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG, which is already in charge of the chartering of six ships in the same 5,000 TEU wide beam segment, will act as the exclusive charter broker of all three ships.
